History

The Vancouver Community Jazz Band (VCJB), founded in late 2023, is an extension of the larger Vancouver Community Concert Band (VCCB). The purpose of the VCJB is to further the mission of the VCCB organization by performing at venues where a full concert band wouldn't be feasible or appropriate.

The VCJB began rehearsing in January 2024 and interest in the ensemble grew quickly over several months with the first public performance taking place at the La Center Library in May 2024. After a successful outing, additional performances were scheduled throughout the summer to increase visibility of the ensemble.

Today, the VCJB's membership includes musicians from all walks of life and levels of experience.
